The TB Outdoor Vengeur® is a full-tang survival and rescue knife developed to strict military specifications for the French Army Light Aviation (ALAT). It was designed to break out of a helicopter cockpit, cut through harnesses and keep crew alive in hostile terrain. Every part of it is built for an emergency.

For overlanders, 4x4 travellers, hunters and anyone heading far from help, it's the knife you hope you never need and are very glad to have.

Why it earns its place

• 4 mm MOX® tanto blade. Hardened to 58 HRC with a black PVD coating. The tanto point is built for penetration, and the blade is strong enough to cut through a vehicle windscreen as a last resort.
• Strap-cutting serrations. About 3.7 cm of micro-serrations for seatbelts, harnesses and heavy webbing.
• Tungsten carbide glass breaker. A 4 mm carbide ball in the pommel breaks thick glass and acrylic.
• Hidden firesteel. Unscrew the glass breaker to reveal a ferro rod stored in the handle. Strike it on the notched spine of the blade.
• Snap-button retention. The knife clips into its sheath and releases with thumb pressure, so it can't fall out or be pulled from you.
• Ambidextrous and orientable in the dark. Each side of the thumb rest has a different texture, so you know which way the edge faces without looking.
• PA6 FV handle. Glass-fibre reinforced polymer that is near-indestructible, non-slip, resistant to most chemicals and does not conduct electricity.

Carry options

The Kydex sheath takes the knife either way round for left- or right-handed carry, and a drain point lets water run out after immersion. Wear it on the belt, thigh, arm or chest, or mount it to MOLLE webbing. The belt loop comes off with two screws.

Care

Rinse off salt or mud, dry and oil lightly. Keep the edge at its factory angle. Thanks to the hardness of MOX®, the serrations rarely need attention; when they do, use a diamond file.
