CAZADOR Asador Knife Set
Handmade in Uruguay. Forged from generations of tradition.
The CAZADOR Asador Knife Set comes from one of Uruguay’s oldest and most respected knife-making houses — a family business whose history stretches back to 1938.
That year, Italian immigrant José Lorenzi founded a small blacksmithing and knife-making workshop in Uruguay. What began as a traditional forge would develop into Cuchillos del Uruguay, a family-run manufacturer now in its third generation.
For more than 85 years, the Lorenzi family has produced knives deeply connected to Uruguay’s gaucho and asado culture. These were never intended simply as kitchen utensils. They were made as working tools — used by farmers, horsemen and asadores, and built to become trusted companions for years of use.
Today, production continues under Gabriel Lorenzi, the third generation of the family, together with skilled craftsmen who continue the standards and traditions established by his grandfather.
CAZADOR is one of the factory’s best-known traditional brands, recognised in Uruguay and across the wider MERCOSUR region.
Made for the Asador
At the heart of the set is a fully forged 26 cm carbon steel knife, made for preparing and carving meat around the braai or open fire.
The long blade provides excellent control when working with larger cuts of meat, while traditional carbon steel is valued for its ability to take an exceptionally sharp edge and to be sharpened and maintained for years of service.
The set also includes a long carving fork, honing steel and traditional leather sheath.

Carbon Steel — Made to Be Used
Carbon steel has been used for traditional working knives for generations. It is valued for its ability to take an exceptionally sharp edge, its ease of sharpening and the character it develops through years of use.
Factory Edge & Sharpening
The knife is supplied with a traditional factory edge. While it arrives sharpened from the factory and ready for general use, this is not intended to be its final, precision-sharpened edge.
For the best cutting performance, we recommend properly sharpening the knife before or soon after its first use. Carbon steel responds exceptionally well to sharpening and can take a very fine edge.
The supplied honing steel is designed to help maintain and realign the edge between sharpenings. It does not replace periodic sharpening when the blade becomes dull.
Care & Maintenance
Carbon steel requires more care than stainless steel and can rust if left wet or exposed to moisture.
After use, wash the blade by hand and dry it immediately and thoroughly. Never leave the knife soaking in water and do not put it in a dishwasher.
With normal use, the blade will gradually develop a natural patina. This change in appearance is normal for carbon steel and becomes part of the individual character of the knife.
For longer-term storage or in humid environments, apply a very light coating of food-safe oil to the blade.
Always ensure the knife is completely clean and dry before placing it in the leather sheath. For extended storage, we recommend storing the knife outside the sheath to prevent moisture from becoming trapped against the blade.
Carbon steel asks for a little more care — in return, you get a knife that can be sharpened beautifully, maintained for generations and develops its own character with every fire and every meal.
