Skeppshult Cast Iron Frypan PRO
Handcrafted in Sweden since 1906.
There is cast iron cookware — and then there is Skeppshult.
For more than a century, Skeppshult has been producing premium cast iron cookware in the small Swedish town from which it takes its name. Today, the foundry remains the only surviving foundry in Scandinavia producing household cast iron cookware by hand.
The Skeppshult Cast Iron Frypan PRO represents that heritage in a pan made for serious cooking. Its deep cast iron body delivers exceptional heat retention, while the stainless steel handle makes the PRO particularly suited to high-temperature cooking, the oven and cooking over fire.
This is not cookware designed for a few seasons.
It is cookware designed for generations.
Swedish Cast Iron Since 1906
The Skeppshult story began in 1906, when Charles E. Andersson returned from North America and established a foundry alongside the Nissan River in Skeppshult, Sweden.
More than a century later, the location, knowledge and philosophy behind the products remain remarkably unchanged.
Skeppshult continues to manufacture its cast iron cookware in Sweden using a process that combines generations of experience with an extraordinary amount of hands-on craftsmanship.
Each piece passes through numerous production stages requiring skilled craftsmen. Even the molten iron is poured by hand by experienced casting masters.
It is this combination of material, craftsmanship and more than a century of accumulated knowledge that places Skeppshult among the world's premium cast iron cookware manufacturers.
Cast in Sand. By Hand.
Making exceptional cast iron requires an entirely different process from producing conventional cookware.
The temperature of molten cast iron is too extreme for many conventional moulding systems. Skeppshult therefore creates individual moulds from specially formulated casting sand, compressed under enormous pressure.
After generations of refinement, Skeppshult has developed its own precise sand composition to withstand the molten iron while creating the distinctive surface and structure of its cookware.
Two halves of the mould are pressed together to create the cavity of the pan. An experienced casting master then pours the molten virgin iron by hand.
Once cooled, the raw casting goes through further finishing and machining before becoming the pan you cook with.
It is a slower, more demanding way to manufacture cookware.
That's precisely the point.
The PRO Frypan
Designed to handle everyday cooking with ease, the PRO combines a substantial cast iron body with a durable stainless steel handle.
The deeper walls provide generous cooking space while helping contain splatter and retain heat. Whether you're searing steaks, frying, sautéing vegetables or slowly cooking over steady coals, the heavy cast iron provides the stable, consistent heat that makes this material so rewarding to cook with.
A precision-turned, thick cast iron base provides excellent stability and even contact with the cooking surface.

Naturally Seasoned. No Synthetic Coating.
Skeppshult doesn't rely on a synthetic non-stick layer.
Each pan leaves the foundry pre-seasoned with organic canola oil and ready to cook with.
As you continue cooking, layers of seasoning develop on the cast iron, gradually creating the characteristic natural cooking surface associated with a well-used cast iron pan.
Rather than wearing out with use, a properly maintained cast iron pan can actually improve with age.
Every mark and layer of seasoning becomes part of its story.
Care & Seasoning
Cast iron rewards simple, consistent care.
Hand wash the pan after use and avoid leaving it soaking in water. Dry it immediately and thoroughly — preferably by warming it briefly on the stovetop to remove any remaining moisture.
Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil when necessary to maintain the seasoning and protect the cast iron.
Avoid the dishwasher and prolonged exposure to moisture.
With proper care, this is a pan that can remain in your kitchen for decades.
Sustainably Made. Eternally Useful.
Sustainability at Skeppshult starts with making something that doesn't need to be replaced.
Production remains in Skeppshult, Sweden, where the foundry uses 100% renewable energy. The cookware is made from recyclable cast iron and seasoned naturally rather than relying on a disposable synthetic non-stick coating.
But perhaps its greatest sustainability advantage is simply longevity.
A Skeppshult pan isn't intended to become next year's waste.
It is intended to become next generation's cookware.
Why Does Skeppshult Cost More?
